Get Creative + Design a Shirt - your t-shirt could be printed!
The designs must follow a central theme: 'Scandinavian Adventure'.
Scandinavia is like a winter wonderland, with more snow than you can poke a stick at. But there's more to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark than just cold winters. Think vikings, IKEA, ABBA, fjords and glaciers.
What would you dream of doing if you could go on a Scandinavian adventure? Head to the North Pole with the help of reindeer? Build a snowman? Or would you want to travel back in time and experience Norse Mythology? Maybe you've been inspired by Princess Mary of Denmark - an Aussie girl who met her handsome Danish prince.
Whatever your inspiration, get creative and submit some designs. They may help make your dreams a reality. Use your imagination and come up with a design that will stand out from the pack! Are you an artist who can incorporate some hand drawn concepts, or are you more of a whiz with graphics software? Remember that your designs should not only be creative but also look good on a t-shirt!
Creating your design on computer
- First, grab one of the templates provided below. Use them as the basis for
your design.
- Use the image editing software of your choice. If you're not sure, Google
has a good
list (some packages are free, some aren't). If you have access to them
at school, Adobe Photoshop, Freehand or Illustrator are good choices.
- Your original design should be as large as practical and have a resolution
of 300dpi. Be sure to keep this copy in case your design is chosen to be printed.
However, the only two copies you will be asked to submit to the website will
be:
1) Normal: 72dpi GIF or JPG, 640x480 pixels, showing the full
t-shirt design. It should be under 70K in size.
2) Thumbnail: 72dpi GIF or JPG, 100x70 pixels, showing a cropped
(not resized) version of your design. It should be under 4K in
size.
- If you submit your image as a JPG, it needs to be in the RGB
colourspace, not CMYK. In Photoshop, you can easily convert to RGB by
doing Image -> Mode -> RGB. If you're not sure, you can usually
tell if your image is RGB if you can view it in Internet Explorer or
Firefox (CMYK images won't show properly).
Download the templates
Adobe Photoshop (PSD) format - you will need Photoshop or a
program capable of opening PSD files with its layers intact.
Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format - many graphics
programs including Adobe Illustrator, The GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, CorelDraw.
GIF format - if the options above aren't suitable you can
use these simpler GIF files.
