Concept statement
Against a cloudy sky, there comes a boat of adventurers, for whom waves are nothing but ornaments to the ultimate joy of freedom.
Where in the world would you go to and why?
I would love to visit elegant Paris and follow a Parisian to wander around. It appears wonderful to me to bike along the streets, to sketch some corners here and there, to enjoy the food, to talk to people, to visit museums and especially to drop in artists' studios in old forgotten buildings. I'm very close to the gap year and answer to this is now more vivid than ever.
Favourite stuff?
:: I love sketchbooks for the freedom and sense of self-expression they bring. :: I can never get bored, given my iPod and some art supplies are around. :: When I was young, I admired Albert Einstein. Does that count? :D :: I like fruits and legume. :: Movies: Pixar animations, The Godfather, Once, Perfect Stranger... :: The most vivid books I have read are Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami, Birthday stories - selected and introduced by H.Murakami, Mosquito - Roma Tearne, The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown... I also like Helen Garner. :: In terms of bands or singers, my top artists (based on favorite songs per artist) are Le Hieu, Justin Timberlake, Bryan Adams, Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova...
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
Tarzan, a doctor, and a singer
What will you be doing in 10 years?
Assuming I'm walking on the right path, heading to my set goals, I can see myself at the age of 27 doing my dream job and building up my dream life. By that time, I will have stepped in the challenging real world for 4 years and been working in some architecture firm. By that time, I will be reading at least a short story every morning and doing a painting every night. Well, in 10 years time, I will be leading a life worth missing when I grow old. For days passed and those coming. For a noticeable mark before reaching my 30s.
Why should you win this competition?
First and foremost, getting to this point is so much appreciated and I'm grateful for the opportunity. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to those who have looked at the design as it means enough just to know someone somewhere has come across the message, perhaps given it a thought and kept it in a corner of their mind. Nevertheless, I put much effort and aim high for everything I do as I know with no doubt, that is how I can dedicate my best to my work. I believe my design, rendered in high resolution and eye-catching colors, meets what there needs to be in a messenger for Scandinavia. Last but not least, although winning this competition means a lot - a big encouragement and a great chance for the message to reach more people - I am not afraid of failure. Every single thing is a precious experience. Both success and failure help me grow. More than ever, my gap year is only close to possible if I win this competition to share the financial constraint with the family.
