Concept statement
Before we go into details, I hope the design appeals to both guys and girls - I was really going for a unisex look, here. Anyway, the design shows the fusion of Earth (representative of nature) and a soccer ball (representative of sportswear). So here we have it... sportswear derived from nature! And, check it out; the Earth can also be linked to the experience of exchange - travel - seeing the world, etc.
Where in the world would you go to and why?
Omg, it's so hard to name just one... so I'm not going to! Haha. Right now, definitely, definitely France because... I've been learning the language for so long, and am in LOVE with everything to do with the country (#1 Gaspard Ulliel fan, yo'!). And cheese, yay! But I also would love to go to the USA, I'm so fascinated by the accent. Russia's awesome... I MUST see St. Basil's Cathedral for myself. Japan is also really high up on the list, followed by Brazil and Portugal (my dad's Portuguese and I've never even been there!)... and... Iceland. Because Sigur Rós and Björk are cool.
Favourite stuff?
I think I have the widest range of favourite stuff, like, ever... Item? Probably the computer, seeing as though I spend so much time on it. And it's practically a portal to another world. Pastime? Talking and meeting new people (I think I'm physically incapable of shutting up...), going online, maybe? Spending time with friends, photography, design, sewing, making things, music, reading, eating, sleeping... everything... Person? I don't have a favourite person. Everyone I know is pretty wicked in their own way. Food? If I had to live on one food for the rest of my life it would be Indomie Mi Goreng, fo' sure. Movie? A BAZILLION. Especially foreign films... I think French cinematography is amazing. Book? Right now... the Twilight series. Harry Potter was my first love, though, and I love books written by philosophers. Mag? Vogue's editorials are really inspirational, but I think Frankie's and Yen's articles are more interesting. Band? I have 394 playcounts for 'You Are The One' by Shiny Toy Guns... but I'd say Metric is my favourite band. And that's it!
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
1 multi-talented person who can cook, build, etc. 1 person with some kinda awesome high-tech computer that somehow has internet connection all over the world, and a fully charged cellphone. And 1 person with a microchip implanted in their heads that pinpoints their exact location on the Earth. So, basically, 3 people that can get me outta there.
What will you be doing in 10 years?
Skydiving or something freaky/sweet like that.
Why should you win this competition?
Why should I win or why do I want to win? I can't really say why I should win without sounding full of myself, hahaha. I dunno, I think my design's okay, right? I spent a lot of time developing a unique concept and such. It's what I like to do. As for why I want to win, obviously... the prizes are right up there. They'd really help out with the cost of an exchange program, which isn't exactly the cheapest thing in the world. I also love the idea of having my design out there in the clothing industry, I think it's a great way to get my foot in the design door, which is what I hope to be doing as a career. So, yeah!
