Concept statement
I started out by creating a mind map for the theme “Destination” I came up with journeys and started to think of all the different journeys people take to reach a particular destination but it wasn’t until I found a drawing I had done of a punk pirate that I thought of doing a treasure map and “X marks the spot” was born. The idea is that people need direction to reach there destinations in life even crazy pirates! gahh
Where in the world would you go to and why?
I would go to Paris or Italy I have never been overseas and feel this would be an amazing first experience because Paris and Italy are places filled with immense beauty, art and romance. I have made it a goal in life to learn the languages and go to these places and I can’t wait for the day I finally go.
Favourite stuff?
church, art, fashion, the gym the feeling you get after a good work out, youth the sound the rain makes on the roof at night as you drift off to sleep, photoshopin stuff, punk rock music, getting dressed up nice and feeling pretty sleeping in and not having to go to school stayin up late talking to a friends and friends, using new paint on a fresh canvas and ceramics woot
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
This is a crazy question but if I had to pick three people I would have to take Leonardo da Vinci for his abilities as an inventor and artist we would be able to make some kind of boat to explore the island and his knowledge and interest of all things would be a great asset on an island. I would also have a mentor and teacher to help me improve my drawing ideas and abilities. Secondly I would have to have some music, my favorite music involves bands but I would take Maria Mena to sing to me, her music is inspirational and positive. I don’t think I could live without music. Lastly I would need some laughs so I would take Carl Baron the comedian to keep me happy.
What will you be doing in 10 years?
My goals for the future are to complete a diploma in Graphic Design. Once I have achieved this I will work for a company for a while before creating my own graphic design company. I also love fashion and creating my own unique style. I love taking old used clothes and turning them into a beautiful outfits and feel that this could be a path I would consider taking in the future as well.
Why should you win this competition?
I deserve to win this completion as much as the next person and am so happy to have been chosen for the top ten. I worked hard on trying to think of original ideas for the theme “Destination” and feel that I have achieved this. I believe that I would be a good representative for the ASICS and winning this competition would be a step closer to reaching my dreams as a graphic designer. Thank you for the opportunity.
